copper sulfate/spraying

Recommended Posts

My home lake just took a beating with 1800 pounds of copper sulfate. I know this takes oxygen out of the water.  The fishing has just shut off for me in my grassbeds. Should I just slow down more or will this position the fish elsewhere? ::)

Actually copper sulfate doesn 't remove oxygen from the water, what removes it is decaying vegetation killed by the copper sulfate, stay away from sprayed weeds and grassbeds, they are dying, move to deeper water away from the dead vegetation.

And if you're wondering, yes, we even have an article on copper sulfate:

http://bassresource.com/fish_biology/algae_copper.html

This explains in detail what negative effects can happen to a lake when using copper compounds.

Now tell me, what other bass fishing site, or bass magazine for that matter, has THAT kind of info for you?  :D
