Texas Rig Tubes - Rigging Question

Featured Replies

I am new to using tubes. I came across a picture when texas rigging a tube that looked like the hook was left exposed inside the tube. Is that the corrct way to rig it or should insert the hook into the inside wall of the tube.

Thanks for any help.

I texpose it. i push it all the way through the other side, and then push it back in and that way it is easier to get good hooksets, and its still weedless.

I also Texpose my tubes. Leaving the hook inside may be OK, but not for me, as I wouldn't have confidence in getting a good hookset.

Texposing is an awesome way of rigging a tube. Occasionally I do rig mine with the hook totally exposed but only in really open water. Good luck...

I also Texpose my hook.  I would like to ad a rigging method regarding weights and Tube baits.  I read by adding a bell weight inside the tube further reduces catching weeds.

I tried this method.  I wet the bell sinker and slid it inside the tube.  I then inserted the hook in the tip of the tube and through the eye of the bell sinker.

I was amazed at the helicopter downfall this created.  It looked as if it were making 6" dia circles on the way down.  It also reduced the muck that I use to get by an outside weight.  This also improve my skipping technique.  I will never rig a tube with an outside weight again!!

I usually texpose mine in regular water BUT

I have caught some money fish by using 3/16oz pegged weight and a flippin tube and drop it into  isolated Milfoil patches. When I fish this way  or though wood I will Leave the hook in the body cavity. I know its completely weedless . I use 10lb test on a med spin rod for this and  have always hooked them.
