Young man,.....you need to learn that jig.  You'd be deadly.  Sept.,...you'll see.  I'm gonna force you to throw it.

i fished them for 3 days.  each day a 9 hour trip.  threw it every cast of each day.  i ended up with one.  but that one was a 5lb. or so but in ga, crawfish is not a strong forage.  its all shad baby

sounds like someone is getting a little spoiled!   ::)  lol

simple is as simple does.......

You could have tried useing some of the super glue you had left over from your fish finder on her that would have kept her home.  ;)  Just kidding & welcome back.

Senko77........yes, crawfish are a very strong forage in Georgia.  Up here in the mountainous region of the state, crawfish are probably the 3rd strongest forage, behind shad and bluegill.

Also, they are the preferred forage of choice for bass.  If they can get to a crawdad, they will take it over a bluegill.

I think that is one reason why I rely on jigs 50% of the time.  I know for a fact that on any body of water that I fish, that I will get quality bass on them, and that, more than likely, I can get a decent limit of bass on a jig.

So, don't be fooled into thinking that crawfish aren't a strong forage bass in our state, because, I know they are.  I have caught enough of them for eating purposes, and for fishing purposes.

The best way to know if you will have crawfish in your body of water is if there are ANY rivers or streams coming into the body of water.  If those rivers or streams have semi-clear water and rocks..........there will be crawfish there.   ;D

the_muddy_man,

That plan is too simple. Some days a slightly different profile or action is very effective when it seems the soft plastic you are using just isn't the ticket. Everything I'm suggesting can be carried in a little Plano box, including your Rapalas.

Some days the Senko won't work but a Fat Ika, Kreature, Gitzit, Kut-Tail or Roboworm will. I carry them all plus hooks, weights and beads in a small little box that fits nicely in the back pouch of a fishing vest. Now, I understand simple, but you still need a couple of options.

Haha, great first post man.

Now that she's out of the picture that 10 pounder is bound to end up in your boat soon.

but in ga, crawfish is not a strong forage. its all shad baby

Bass can be odd creatures.  One of my best jig days was fishing green pumpkin jigs around stumps when the bass were gorging on shad.  Yeah, I caught some on other baits, but the big fish were eating the jig and the smaller ones were eating the shad.  I think the bigger fish were being lazy and wating for an easy meal to float down to them from the carnage above.

Brad

So next year thats all im packing

If I thinned my tackle down too much, I'd have no excuse to keep the 17'6" Triton tackle box in the garage.

Besides, when I keep the baitmonkey occupied, he leaves you other guys alone.
