Featured Replies

I love to read.  What are some of the must read books on Bass Fishing and what makes it a good read?

Bass wisdom by Homer Circle. He will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about bass without trying to sell you anything

"In Pursuit of Giant Bass" by Bill Murphy.

I'm half-way through it now.  some great stuff in there.

If you fish for smallmouth, In-Fisherman's "Smallmouth" book. It's not new so you can find it in paperback. It's everything you need to know to find, fish and catch these beauties. I highly recommend the book.

I've mentioned this before, but for the shear pleasure of reading and getting some insight into a legend of the sport -- "Think Like a Fish" by Tom Mann is an excellent read.  You won't learn a lot about how to catch 'em, but it will help you enjoy the sport.

SowBelly, the hunt for the world record largemouth bass.  It is an awseome book on haw obsessive the strive is to break the world record.

Also The Diary Of a bass pro with Joe thomas was a great book

Bass Wisdom by Homer Circle is excellent.

Ike's book, Fishing on the Edge, is a good read.

Largemouth Bass by In-Fisherman, A Handbook of Strategies, is also very interesting.

"The Compleat Angler" by Isaac Walton.

Various bassin' mags.

Car and Driver

Texas Monthly

Tackle 'logs

National Porn...uhhh...GEOgraphic

Smithsonian

Military and Naval History.

Anything with a centerfold.

See if you can find a copy of "Lunker" by Bob Underwood.  He spent over 1,700 hours in SCUBA gear observing bass while someone above fished for them.  Book dispels a lot of myths e.g.  line color doesn't make one bit of difference.  An eye-opening book.  Copyright 1977, I believe, but still well worth a look.

Anyone ever read "The Modern Book of the Black Bass" by Byron Dalrymple. It's supposed to be and updated version of the original "Book of the Black Bass." Just wondering if it's worth it or if some of the other books that have been mentioned in this thread would be a better read.
