Why Swimbaits work!

Featured Replies

It looked like the guy was using a fly rod.  I never saw any swimbaits used in the movie.  What type of fish did the guy catch?

The rod and reel may have been what is called Center Pin Tackle. Center Pin fishing tackle is very popular in Europe, Canada, and on some Salmon and Steelhead streams here in the USA. Center Pin reels look like Fly reels with one big exception. Center Pin reels have no drag other than your hand pressure on the reel. It really is extreme fishing and is used mostly as a float presentation.

"Word" :)  Thankee aggie.

I laughed out loud when I first saw that.  I thought I knew what to expect but it still surprised me.

The reel that is being used in the video is a Bauer M Series Large Arbor reel. Has a Cork system Drag, same as an Abel. One of the best reel on the market right now.

Someone else had posted that vid, and up until now, I thought that dude got his hand sliced by a gill plate or something (I've been torn up by large snapper when I used to work deeps sea fishing).  Of course I had no idea what those captions said.  Thats weird as hell. Well, that guy should switch to a different bait (and maybe a different pair of jockeys)  ;D.

WOW. that was rad! i was contemplating dropping $30 on the strike king  "king kong" swim bait, and that video does it for me. just gotta use 65# power pro.
