small pond HELP!!!

Featured Replies

hey guys it's friday and i'm going fishing tomorrow on a 1 1/2 acre pond i need some tips on what to throw etc. thanks for your help. :)

It's kind of hard to tell without seeing the pond (knowing the water clarity, forage, depth range, cover, ect.), but here are some things I try in small ponds.

Senko (Always catchs fish, use a watermelon red or green pumpkin)

Zoom Horny Toad  (When worked under the surface is actually a good imatator of a bream or of coarse a frog)

Spinnerbait  (In case the water is stained and you are in a hurry)

Small Minnowbait  (Small minnows and other fish are always a type of forage in a small pond)

Topwater  (Early in the morning, Late in the afternoon, or on a good cloudy day)

Black/Blue Jig  (For flipping and pitching...  Not a great small pond bait, but something to keep in mind)

Throw whatever seems appropriate for the conditions and the cover. For me, any lure that works in lakes also works in ponds.

In small ponds i've had the most success with a inline spinner, i usually throw a white rooster tail.

rapala lipless crank bait ( i forgot the real name)

Rattling Rapala.

Senko, light colors for clear water and dark colors for murky.  If the water is dark, as some brass and glass.  Craw colored jigs have worked well for me in small lakes and ponds
