TC4 and TC4K
Anyone know the main difference of the 2 blanks regarding real life application when using these rods. From the shimano website it says tc4 is graphite and glass, tc4k is graphite and a carbon fiber. I understand this part but when fishing the two different whats the main difference? Thoughts anyone?

Online Tackle Shops
Thanks RW found exactly what I was looking for on Overstock.

Online Tackle Shops
I agree tackleware house is good, for the most part you can buy every rod and reel on cabelas or bass pro cheaper on ebay online stores with free shipping to boot for the most part. The saltwater selection is kind of lackin on both sites and are somewhat overpriced so was hoping someone had a site they know about.

Online Tackle Shops
Other than BassPro and Cabelas do you guys use one that you would recommend? I'm looking for a site that has freshwater as well as saltwater gear. I use ebay from time to time but was looking for a online store with a good selection. Thanks !

Huntsman Lake in Fairfax
I've had tons of luck on Huntsman, I work 5mins down the street and have fished it a lot from the shore. I've caught almost all my fish on a manns -1 crankbait in a craw pattern. I've usually caught all my fish where the drain is near the street. Good luck

Potomac
I usually walk down to the right of the waterfall if you are facing the main river. If you walk down a bit you'll see some rock protruding from the main river. I fished this part of the main river 90% when I did fish Scotts Run. I have not fished Scotts Run in a few years since and not sure what erosion and water levels are like. Few years back where I described there was a gravel sand bar where you could wade where the water would only come about to your knees and make cast near the boulders on the deeper part of the river. Would always catch a few nice ones everytime I went to Scotts Run for 10+ years. Not sure what its like these days but I would assume the area is still very productive. Out of old times sakes a friend of mine who fished with me there regularly we've decided to check it out this weekend. I'll update you guys after this weekend if I can make it out there.

Potomac
I grew up near the Great Falls area and Dominion Dan is right on. Fishing from the shore Riverbend is a nice place to fish since its really easily accessible and on most days you can catch a few fish. Always had good luck throwing a plastic tube texas rigged. Scotts Run has really good fishing if your willing to take a hike, used to go fishing there all the time when I skipped school with friends I fished mainly near the waterfall in Scotts Run even tho its a good walk. Also can catch lots of catfish there. I always had best luck throwing a carolina rig lizard/brush hog Hope this helps.

Dicks sporting goods
I only go to Dick's to pick up bags of plastics all other buys I head to Basspro shops. Even tho its a good 35-40min drive its really worth it, and can usually find some good deals. Most of the people i've encountered at basspro are knowledgable, and have some good information on local rivers and lakes and can get some real nice tips.

ESPN'S GRADE ON CLASIC COVERAGE...
Complete garbage, still watched it cause its the classic but honestly it seems like the whole time you're watching a long infomercial, with 15sec clips of fishing. I miss the days when they literally showed 5-10 mins of non stop fishing of various anglers in contention. I clearly remember classics when Rick Clunn and David Fritts won they would go into detail of the patterns, gear and all the other stuff that most people watch fishing programs for, sigh I guess those days are long gone

So we were cleaning out the garage tonight....
I agree hold on to those CBs, i've found a few of those older crankbaits at garage sales and still use a few of them. Something about those older baits that really catch fish, nice stuff!

Help me get out of this slump
Carolina rigged centipede

carolina rig - speed
I make a full drag length of the rod then i'll reel in the slack pointing the tip of the rod toward the bait then drag again. I think while reeling in the slack is sufficient time in between drags, when I use a trick worm as a bait sometimes i'll shake the tip of the rod on a taught line in between drags. Usually use this technique when fish are finicky.

Super fluke
When I fish a soft swimbait like the fluke I use EWG hooks. If im fishing deeper then 4+ feet I usually put a split shot on the bend of the hook. After I cast it out I wait a few seconds to let it hit the bottom, then i'll fish it pretty erratically short tug then pause then few hard jerks, then let it sit for a 10 seconds then a twitch then a hard jerk. But I stopped fishing a weightless fluke since the chatterbait, i've been slow rolling it and having real good results.

Where to start?
Can I ask you a quick question about the foliage and cover, is it green or dark brown like its dead? Theres a Lake near my house called Burke Lake it has tons of spotted folage that looks like it would hold fish. But if you take a closer look the foliage is pretty much dead, and will repel fish because of the decaying plants consuming oxygen. When I first started fishing this lake i'd throw plastics into the cover without much success, then changed up by fishing flats, points, and rip rap since then having been real good success on the lake. Sometimes the spots that look like money usually has the heaviest pressue and fishing spots that dont look as productive can be the difference in catching the quality fish.

WANTED: soft plastic company sponsor
If you can spare me a short amount of time to talk to the younger anglers on this forum. Like majority of people who fall in love with the sport of bass fishing, have ambhitions of becoming a pro angler. I can honestly say since was 8years old(renting that fishing video by jimmy houston at erol's and now i'm 25 ) I wanted to be a pro angler. But my parents said once you get your education you can do whatever you want with your life. If pro angling doesn't work out you can always fall back on that degree. I'm not saying if you dont get your education its end of your life, but its like plan B. I told my parents since grade school I wanted to be a pro-angler, they supported me taking me to lakes and ponds on weekends but still emphasized my education. When high school graduation was coming near they told me if I was so interested in wildlife pick something that is relevent to fishing. So I picked marine biology, after studying a year I realized I liked catching fish better then knowing what makes up a fish ( If that makes sense ). But instead of quitting school I studied my next passion US history, after graduating and having a stable job I decided to fish tourneys. I did fish smaller club tourneys and I think the experience is invaluable. Personally I rather want the sponsor to want my services then the other way around, anyone can be a yes man but few can demand the services of sponsors. Once you have some success and you ask for sponorship, they will be there. But it seems people expect services before you really offer anything to the company. I dont want to seem like i'm trampling over your dreams, but I once was there with your type of expectations, but reality is different, and should be realistic. When reading the fishing resume forum I see a lot of young people deciding they were ready to become pro. This might be true for some but vast majority wont reach there goals right away and you will need financial stability to pursue your goals. I'll be the first one to say set your goals real high, but have things you can fall back on in case you can't achieve those goals, thats not selling yourself short but being savvy about your future.

Am I the only one?
I didn't have much success catching fish off a senko when i first started fishing the lure. Then I forced myself to fish slower then I was comfortable with, then slowly I started having more success. Even tho senko has been a productive bait for me, I usually fish senkos when my other baits aren't working. Not because its not productive but I can't be disciplined enough to fish slow enough over a long period of time.

Re: what bass is your favorite to fish for?
I took a break from fishing LMB for a few years to fish stripers and other off shore species, even tho the fish are larger in saltwater, the challenge of hooking up with a nice LMB is more thrilling. When fishing for stripers on a boat or surf fishing you'd get 10-20 bites everytime going out on a trip. The action is great, but when fishing for LMB you might get 4-5 bites on any given day and hooking up with one is much more of a thrill. I still enjoy saltwater fishing but I really love the challenge of fishing for LMB.

After the pitch
Personally I let the bait sit for 10-15 seconds before twitching my rod tip 4-5 pretty subtle, then wait 5 secs then i'll raise my rod tip, i usually get the strike after the raise of the rod tip and on the fall. I work it the same when fishing docks as well.

Carolina Rig Tips
Another tip when c-rigging depending on which plastic you use I do think hook selection is pretty important. Like ppl use real large hooks like 4/0 or 5/0 when c-rigging a worm, I've had better success since changing to a lighter wire hook for thin worms, I feel it gives better action. I try to use the smallest hook i can get away with, seems the bait has better action. Someone asked in a previous post how to work the c-rig, best way is to cast out, then make a sweeping motion with the rod then reeling up the slack and repeat. I like to change up the speed, sweep fast then sweep real slow and so on.
