Slow fishing

Featured Replies

Okay guys! Heres the question--- we had about 6 inches of rain 2 weeks ago and air temps in the 90s since. The fishing has gotten reallu slow and all of the big fish have seemed to disappear. I have tried just about everything with no success. Any thoughts?

Fish deeper and further out from where the bank was two weeks ago. The bass are probably still staging where they were. I had this experience at Bull Shoals a few years ago (2002) and we slayed them when everyone else was fishing the brush.

The weapon of choice was a Mizmo Gitzit, 3 1/2" Kent's Classic.

Find a point or points that are a little steeper than the rest and cast a DD22 on them.......reel it fast to get it down and when you start to feel the bottom, just crawl it along the bottom at moderate speed.Be sure to keep in contact with the bottom. And have no fear,a DD22 will float back off most underwater obstructions if you just give a little slack.

Keeping in touch with the bottom will often coax a reaction strike from sluggish fish......and 8 times out of 10 if you get bit on a 22,it's a good fish.

IF i was fishing a cove where a creek comes in i would find the creek channel and fish it from the back all the way out to the mouth with a deep crank bait or texas rig.
