red eyed bass

Featured Replies

ok so we went trout fishing today, me my bro and my friend caught like 5 small trout, alot of pesky hogsuckers and a couple of small red eye bass. are red eyed bass good to eat? just wonderin in case we ever caught a big one.

They are very much like Spotted (KY) bass, not getting any bigger than those, very good eating, fun to catch.

ok cool. how big do the kent. spotted bass get? we caught 3 the other day about a pound each

Top length for most states for both species is 17". Top weights range from 5-8#. My largest for either is around 3#. I can't imagine what a 5#er would feel like, a 3#er in either brand putting up a heck of a fight, about like a smally.

Hey guys Goggle eyes and rock bass are the same thing.  They are shaped like a bream, but have a bigger mouth and are darker colored.  Red Eye bass are like spotted bass and kentucky bass.  They look like largemouth, but they have a toothpatch on their tongue and their color is usually a little lighter.  Red Eyes also have....you guessed it RED EYES.  They are very fun to catch and 1pounders are probably about average size depending on the body of water you fish.  I know that Lake Lanier is full of big Spotted bass(3-7#ers).  My home lake is full of those 1-3#ers.
