85 degrees,spawn,possible?

Featured Replies

At my last tournament on Fort Gibson Oklahoma the water temperature was from 80-87 degrees. Is it still possible for some late spawners? There were some fish caught with torn fins and bloody tails which you could possibly contribute to the very shallow water. Among the 12 man Kansas team we all reported seeing some little black schools of fry, especially as the tournament days went on. Not only that, but it was also a full moon. If the temperatures, water level, and fronts were all right earlier in the spring could some of the fish just now been getting around to spawn??

No, you're way past that.

I would think so too. I did see however some bluegills sitting on beds this weekend.

That's an interesting question Will.Something weird has been going on because just late last week I witnessed several male bass still guarding fry (and the fry looked to be only a few days old, very very small) and our water is hitting 80 in the day. This was in one particular section of the lake, everywhere else I went,I saw no bass shallow. The mild weather temps will prolong the spawn but 85 seems a bit high.Who really knows??
