Something strange is happening

Featured Replies

When I started fishing about a year and half ago, I definitely considered myself a "power" angler.  All I did was throw fast moving baits, cranks, spinnerbaits, etc, but lately I have found myself picking up a t-rigged worm/plastic or weightless plastic more often, to the point that I am beginning to have more confidence in those type of baits over the fast movers.  I kinda like it but I feel that I am abandoning the fast movers, maybe I am just developing more patience to fish the slower moving bait.

You won't wear out as fast fishing slower  ;)  Seriously, if you can catch bass going slow why not? But keep those rockets handy for when the fish want to chase something. I still use a spinnerbait to locate biting bass then switch to slower if slower works. But I won't use a spinnerbait between Friday and Sunday, as the bass see a hailstorm of those day and night weekends, and they stop working by Friday noon, but become increasingly popular with bass by Monday morning.

I did the same thing.  I bought all these crank baits and spinners, but found that I have better results with plastics.  The T-rigged worm is my go to bait.  I'll still throw cranks and spinners early, just in case the fish want to chase something.  I usually find myself putting those away after awhile though and going back to the good 'ol worm.  At the moment, cranks baits for me are a last resort.  Maybe it's because I don't have a lot of confidence using them yet.

Yes, if you do both the bass will tell you what they want for the day.

And that is an encouraging thought......

I actually give the senko credit for making me fish plactic's more. I started using them alot at first then expanded to other plastics and found myself doing well.  I have been using the C rig alot lately

Fishing a senko the past few years has helped my game as far as fishing slower and getting back to the basics (plastic worm, creature, jig etc....) I fish them more now than I ever have but it's still hard putting the crankbait down.I just have to remind myself that they will not hit a crankbait ALL THE TIME. ;D
