I'm looking for an affordable fish replica

Featured Replies

On a recent off-shore fishing trip I caught a dicent size Spanish Mackerel, and would like to get a replica mount of it.  Anyone have a trusted fish taxidermest?

Just do what I did Get one of those singing bass, take the batteries out. Coat it with one layer of shelac and hang a lure in its mouth

I personally bought a 7 mp digital camera, and can load pics at a photo store and get them blown up to about 3' wide without hardly any loss of detail. MUCH cheaper than a replica, and you still get to show it off on the wall.

Good thinking about the picture Josh. I've got a special sports area in the corner of my family room. Right now it is reserved for Walter Payton, Dick Butkus, Sandberg etc ( plus the crap my wife keeps adding ( long story). I need to add a bass picture. Now all I need to do is catch the bass! Might be a whileyer? LOL

The best ones I have seen were at Lake Fork in all the restauraunts and stores.  They were all done by Lake Fork taxidermy.

For a Spanish Mackeral, I would look for a saltwater taxidermist in your area.  Google "fish taxidermy Florida" but your state.

Macks make great drift fishing bait for sharks.

So does pretty much any fish that's pulverized and frozen into blocks, lol

Try bridle rigging a tinker mackerel for Bluefin,....they love the bitty morsels :)
