pitchin' and flippin' how to?

Featured Replies

Does anybody know of any good videos that teach pitching and flipping techniques?  Anything on the internet?  Or any general tips to learning these techniques?  I've been experimenting based on what I've seen the pros do on TV but I can't seem to get it right.

Then best advise I can give you about learning how to pitch is start with the lure just below the hand holding the reel. So if you are holding the rod and reel in your right hand. Hold the lure in your left on a tight line and bring it to a point just below and on the opposite side of the handle from your right hand before starting your swing. The rest will best be explained by watching a video. I know I have seen one somewhere. Let me see if I can find it.

Yea that would be nice i could use a couple more swings in my bag.I currently only throw side arm , i have tried pitching but it feels realy awkward(sp).

I haven't seen it, but I've heard the KVD video--Pitchin' to Heavy Hitters--is supposed to be really good.

Bass Pro has it for $9.95.

I've been meaning to get it.  I plan to whenever I do my next BPS ordering spree.

If you get the sportsmans channel or the water channel, next week I am guest hosting an episode of LunkerVille. It is a jig fishing segment and I show how I use the pitching technique. After next week I'll put a link for it up on this site.

Yeah, this is pretty much the video that I learned it from.  I'm still not great at it.

BPS has three KVD videos for $9.95, pretty good deal that I picked up.  Three fishing video for less than $10, gives me something to watch when there is nothing else on TV (which is often it seems like).

Unfortunately, I don't get those channels.  But I've checked out some of the older episodes on the web.  I'll look forward to checking it out when it's posted!!!

As suggested, a video of the pitching and flipping presentations will save you alot of time learning these.  Also, I found flipping to be much easier for me to learn than pitching.  I know each of us is different but you might start by learning the one that seems to be easier for you.

BPS has a VanDam Video Special. You get all three for the price of one. ''Proven Spinnerbait Techniques,'' ''Changing Conditions'' and ''Pitchin' to Heavy Hitters.''

I really learned some things from the KVD pitchin to heavy hitters and he really broke it down for people to easily understand but I just wish that they had had some high speed cameras or more angles so I could see what he is doing with the jig. how he drops it, when he starts to lift the rod, etc
