I know the difference between cover and structure, but I just felt like broadening the topic to include cover. They both seem to go hand in hand.Structure without cover ain't worth a darn in my humble opinion.

Yep, If you can find good cover on or near good structure you will have a great spot that will hold fish most of the time. There are rare times when fish are holding just to structure. For example a ledge. But if you want to find that spot within a spot look for a pile of rocks or something that has fallen off of that ledge. That will be the spot that holds the majority of the fish.

I am partial to points that extend to the main river channel.....seems they are hard to beat at times and being on the right point at the right time is critical.

Humps are great fish attractors too, especially when the baitfish get around them.Humps with something (rocks, stumps) on them are the best and are the hardest to find.

How many of you have a map of your lake and you see something on the map that interests you and you go check it out and its nothing but flat, barren bottom? That happens alot where I am and I also find stuff (ditches, humps, ledges) and try to locate it on the map and it shows nothing.I dont pay as much attention to maps as I used to because of that.

I like to work the flats until I find a large hole. Sometimes these get made when standing timber falls over. I think it adds some contour and an ambush point.

Laydown. When I see some laydown it's like a sexy women.
;D

That there's funny right there. But I know what you mean. There is something magic about silently slippin a worm or jig over a submerged log and feelin the bite when it falls down. If I was big bass that's where I would hang out.

humps, submerged islands, and rocky points/ledges

I like to fish fallen trees, brushpiles, and rockpiles
