Swim baits in stained water?

Featured Replies

Where i fish, the water is very stained...about 8" of visibility from the surface. :o  Will the tail of the swim baits put out enough vibration for the bass to find them?  I've been wanting to try them for a while but don't want to waste money if i don't have a chance of getting bit.

Something like this...in a 5" version with a jig head

(Hope that works)

In  my part of NC the waters are pretty murky all the time around here, and ive yet to have luck with swim baits. I hear that out in CA, Theres been a fish or two caught on those things :-?

I have used those for striper never for bass. There is a reason for that, they dont work well for bass.

I've caught Bass in both murky and in clear water with Matt's Baby Bass swimbaits.  The paddle tail will let then know it's there 8-).

I had the same doubts so I purchased some Storm brand swimbaits, at about $1 apeice and they will work in stained water and seem to attract the bigger fish as well.

I'm sure there are better swimbaits than these but I wanted to try a cheaper version before spending more for the better baits. I'm sure someone on this site could recommend a few of the better baits. I'll be reading also...........Al

I'm a BELIEVER NOW!!!!!! Today a caught a 5.5 pound bass and a 14'' white crappie off of a Cabela's 5'' shad swimbait.

Good catchin' Greg!!! 8-)

Al: Go here for some of the best swimbaits there are. I've caught Bass ranging from 1.5 lb keeper up to my PB, a 9 lber.

Thanks Dan, I'll check them out..................Al
