do females and males have different feeding habits?

The only difference I have noticed is the female holds her fork with the right fin, and the male holds his with his left fin.  8-)

That's only if the male even bothers to use a fork.  

Males seem to like meat and taters females salads

I would say females would be more agressive durring spawnning season and Pre-spawn then that means they will eat more and try to kill annoying fish even if she is not hungry.

Females eat very little if at all while bearing egg. (but when they do, I believe GW is correct,...right fin.)
