Get to know the mods- Fivebasslimit and Low_budget

Recommended Posts

This small interview was thought up to help the users of Bass Resource to get to know, and understand the moderators a little better. Thanks to Fivebasslimit, and Low_budget_Hookers for their time in answering these questions.

Fivebasslimit

1. Do the mods have "roles" on the board and if so, what is your role? Being the newest member of the "mod squad",I am basically just reviewing, moving, editing and deleting posts and threads at this point and occasionally sending friendly warnings and fielding some complaints through the pm system. I really enjoy it.

2. What is the best thing you have seen come from the board? The best thing to come from the board is the amount of members we have and all of the input that everyone gives. In any given thread you will get objective views on any topic no matter what it may be. This helps each member form his/her own opinion about things. The other best thing that has come from this site is that it offers a friendly place for people to come hang out and talk bass fishing without any worries of being blasted or ridiculed about your opinions. Glenn has built a great thing here.

3. It seems you guys spend lots of time teaching. What's the one thing that stands out to you that you have learned from the board? I have learned to be more versatile when on the water as far as what baits to try. That comes from the many members that post reports and pics of fish they have caught using baits that I normally would not use in certain situations.

4. What do you believe makes BR different from other boards? I think the cleanliness of the forums and the friendly atmosphere sets it apart from the "others".Glenn likes to run a tight ship and I think that's the best way to have it.

5. If you could change your job functions here, what would you add or delete? I cant think of anything I would change at the moment. A moderators job is pretty straight-forward.

6. Fishing is many things to many people, what is Fishing to you?

Bass fishing is many things to me as well. I fish tournaments for the competition......there's nothing better than a group of guys showing up at the ramp on a Saturday morning and throwing down money to see who's the best on that day. Fishing is also an escape for me. I can get on my boat, blast across the lake, find a nice quiet cove and just be alone. I also enjoy fishing with my 10 year old son (when he wants to go ).....he's one heck of a fisherman. Whenever the bite gets slow, he whips out his Portable Playstation and beats up some bad guys.

7. What is your personal best largemouth and smallmouth bass, and what did you use to catch it?

PB Largemouth: 9-2 caught on live bluegill (I know, I know )

PB Smallmouth:6-5 caught on a Lucky Craft Pointer 78

8. When were you introduced to fishing, and who introduced you? My dad first took me trout fishing for stockers when I was 4 or 5......I've been setting hooks on some type of fish ever since.

9. Do you believe that a poor man can make it as a professional angler, and how?

That is a tough question which could go either way. A poor man who can market himself and can talk his way into things could make it as a pro no problem. A poor man that cant do those things will have a very tough road to travel.95% of pro fisherman are sponsored in some way, the other 5% just have enough money to do it alone.

10. What are some ways that an angler can make a difference in his or hers' local waters? Just help out in any way you can, whether it be building fish habitat or handicapped fishing piers ,picking up trash, supporting kids events, attending meetings, reporting violators, donating money etc.....

Low_Budget_Hookers

1. Do the mods have "roles" on the board and if so, what is your role?

Other than the set roles of being a moderator ,no. We have however, taken on personalities that just seem to fill certain niches of the moderators role. No one person could possibly do all there is to do as a mod. We compliment each other well in making up a well rounded team in my opinion, all thanks to the quaterback.

Although I am the one mod that seems to be making waves with my opinion every now and again, I see myself as adding more of a social aspect to BR. I like to come up with ideas like the members challenge or the members videos. Things that bring the members together to promote the feeling that we are all 1 big family. I tend to attract the youth attention and take great responsibilty in that also.

2. What is the best thing you have seen come from the board? It's tough to pick one thing. Glenn has opened so many doors for people here, it's just tough to say. For me personally, I am grateful for finding CAST for kids here. Secondly, some of the friends and contacts I've made here are irreplaceable. Thirdly, we've seen members step up to help other members families in time of need. we've had members donate lots of things to the kids. Members go out of their way to help each other. The charity and care born here are very special and always inspire me to be better. The site is full of role models.

3. It seems you guys spend lots of time teaching. What's the one thing that stands out to you that you have learned from the board? To start keeping my mouth shut.

To let the little things go.

2 things I was never very good at but am trying to improve on. The site gives me a forum in which to be tested often.

4. What do you believe makes BR different from other boards? The people reading this post, and the format in which Glenn strictly adheres to.

5. If you could change your job functions here, what would you add or delete? I'm pretty happy. Like I mentioned earlier, we all fill a niche. Glenn does not pressure us to be anything we don't claim to be or don't want to be. He treats us with respect and although I can only speak for myself, I would have to say that we are all pretty honored to be chosen by him for this duty.

6. Fishing is many things to many people, what is Fishing to you? One big smile. I like sharing and teaching. Spreading the word is where my love lies. I've done just about all aspects from tourny angling to commercial fishing and I find I smile the most when I make a new face smile at the joy of a tugging line. It's more contagious than the flu.

7. What is your personal best largemouth and smallmouth bass, and what did you use to catch it? Although irrelevant considering the last question, 9.2 is my PB LM and about 3/4 lb for a smallie. LM was on a jig in fall and smallie was on a senko while LM fishing.

8. When were you introduced to fishing, and who introduced you? My dad when I was about 6. He' was never much of an angler, it was a once a yr thing. Opening day. I got hooked , he never really did. Big thanks to Pops just the same.

9. Do you believe that a poor man can make it as a professional angler, and how? I believe the only thing a man can't do is whatever he tells himself he can't do.

10. What are some ways that an angler can make a difference in his or hers' local waters? Keep it clean!! Pick up the trash. Don't pollute and pass the message on to the generation after you. Get involved. Be active in your community.

I think this was a great idea.  The moderators work very hard keeping BassResource.com the best bass fishing site on the web.

Kudo's to them,

Kudo's to you

And of course Kudo's to the main man himself.

You are welcome everyone, but the credit goes to the moderators, and Glenn.  They are always busy helping out around BassResource.com, and in general in the fishing community.  Thanks for everything.
