fishing partner

Featured Replies

Have any of you ever been stood up by ur fishing partner? I fish with a feller that just can't seem to wake up, We set a time and he's a no show... Man that ticks me off, atleast call or something..

agrrrrr!

sorry I needed to vent, and the wife just would not understand..

Time for another partner.  We often meet up at 3am and that's no time of day to be stood up.

It's happened once with both of us and we forgave each other due to the circumstances but if you just can't drag your butt out of bed with consistency,....maybe that person should only get offered to go on evening trips.

Is it your boat?  Can you go without him?

Find more partners.  I have a list, many members here are on it.  When I'm going to go and there is an open seat, I go right down the list.  The list is "reliability based".  If you are always pumped and ready, regardless of time or notice,...you are at the top.  If you have a 50/50 record, you are on the bottom and RARELY get called.

Put the word out on the board that you are making such a list and would like to know if any folks in your area would like to be on it.

it was his boat, I have a boat but we were going to a bigger lake and my boat is not all that big. This is fixing to change though, cause I was going to buy a new boat at the end of the fishing season, I might just go buy it today.. I am so ticked i can't even type.

I get my butt out of bed at 5 am to sit here and wait on someone that doesn't even call or answer his phone...

hell yeah  i cant stand fishing partners that are late or dont even call....i had one guy who just treated my boat and gear like it was his junk.i went off on him      finding a good fishing partner is hard to do

the bad part is i just payed for the new batteries for his boat, cause I was going to be fishing with him in 7 turny's this year. Plus picked up the entry fees and all... I am not wanting anyone I fish with to think i just leech there boat and money. I do not mind doing my part on repairs, equipment or anything.

He will call me, about 9 am and feed me some line that he just woke up or he is sick, my truck had a flat or some other lie.

I would say maybe it is me, but he asked me to go. lol

o and the weather today is clear and 85 -- arrggg

Especially annoying if he is a drinker and you are not and you make the point to communicate that you are expecting him there so please don't go get hammered,....and then you sit there, steaming,...5am.  One weekend morning is wasted.  Thanks alot, lol.

Again, I have no problem finding someone to fish with.  Turn to the board.  You may end up fishing new places with better fish, who knows, either way, test drive a few members and see if any of you click.

I just got back from a trip to Lake Fork with about 35 board members.  All types, all walks of life, men and women alike.   I would gladly give my front seat to any one of them, any time.

OUCH,...got a hitch on your truck/car?  :) ;D

If this guy needs a job, he'd fit right in over at US Air.  ;D >:( ;D

LBH i will give that a try, it is hard to find a good bass fishing partner here in Eastern Arkansas, most people say they bass fish here, but they go out and cast 10 or so times and catch nothing. then either sit in the boat sulled up like a baby or start another type of fishing.

It is hard to bass fish, with a partner that has a cane pole hung out the side of the boat.

Man that would give me a case of (red ***).I usually go alone just because of that reason. But the way I do it is I leave between 5-6 am and have a tiny boat so some time between 10-12 I have my wife drop off my 2 boys and then it goes from one man bassnut to family of bassers. But yeah sounds like you need some new bassmates and I'd say your venting in the right place. When you get the new boat make sure you post some pics.... :o

I stood up Flechero on Friday A.M. while at Fork.  I misread my watch and showed up ten minutes late.  By then he had already left - and rightly so.  I still feel like pond scum.   :-[ :-[ :-[

Accidents are going to happen, we are talking about blatant disregard for the planned day.

Huh!  That sounds like my brother!  That's all I'm going to say.  I sent him the link to this cool website.  Don't need to stir up the pot anymore.  His wife already hates me ;) ;D

Tell your partner to take up golf or go night fishing ! >:( :'(

finding a good fishing partner is hard to do

Very true.

I had a fishing partner for about 15 years up North.  It was great.

Haven't had one before or since.

Not that I haven't fished with other folks and had a good time, but there is special chemistry between "fishin buddies" that is hard to describe.

Get used to it.Thats the way people are. Which is one of the reasons I fish alone unless i fish with one of 2 guys I fish tournaments with. Everybody else i have found just wants to use me for a boat, fishing spots, duck hunts, etc.. Since i had foot surgery last month, i have been avoided like the plague, I havent heard from any of my other former friends. Until one(the one with the new boat that everyone hates to fish with due to forgeting you are back there) had a tournament on the lake i fish most and needed advice, he called exactly when i knew he would, i didnt answer....and as i predicted He called to brad about his little check he won and I just hit my voice mail button....

My brother and I were suppose to go fishing today sometime after church. Called him up at 2:30 and his wife answered saying he is taking a nap. I told her to ask if he is still going. She came back saying that he has no line on his poles. >:( >:(

So, it's 81 degrees out, sunny. time for a little

Will fish the pond at the house when the sun starts to go down........by myself ;)
