Springtime is here!

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, first off I'm absolutly new here so hello to everyone!  So yes, Spring is here, most lakes in Southwestern PA have been thawed, and temperatures are reaching 70 degrees.  Time to go fishing!  I've already prepped the tacklebox, replaced all the line, even bought a new medium aciton rod.  Seeing that the season has just turned does anyone have any tips before I head out to the lake?  The canoe is not ready yet so I'll be on the shore and the lake (Donegal Lake) isn't all that deep but it's one of the best bass lakes near me.  Should I go deep or shallow?  The water temp is not going to be very warm but it's not going to be freezing.  I've got all the lures/spinners/worms/grubs/jigs/swim baits you can think of, my problem is I don't know when to use them.  Plus its close to spawn or just AT spawn so any tips would be appreciated!  Thanks!

Ben,

Welcome to this great site. You will love it here. You will find that this is a very different kind of forum and we treat each other like close friends and family. Take a look at the Fishing Articles that we have at the top of the page. Start with the section for beginners. I try to read that section every Spring. It brings me back to the basics and reminds me to keep it simple.
