Any of you guys know this waterplant? This stuff has little thorns all over it. It seem like whenever

I stumble across this stuff there are no bass around, I assume because of the thorns or can bass be found around these plants? The piece in the pic is about 3" long.

I don 't know the name of it T-rig but it 's one of the most common water plants around in my neck of the woods specially in ponds, bass do hang around it, can 't say if they hang around it because it 's the only one around or because they can 't choose other types of aquatic plants.
