The "Reel Kids" Casting Contest will be held in the Gander Mountain parking lot in Richmond, Virginia this Saturday, November 3, 2007, from 10 to 2.

Boys and girls ages 7 to 14 are eligible to participate.

Winners in each age group will advance to the January Bassarama Kids Casting event on the state level.

Prizes will be given to the winners.

So bring the kids, try their luck and have some fun.

Anyone going?

I will have to bring my 7 year old son Andrew.  He would probably like to participate but he prefers to use a spining rod

All we use are spinning reels.

Zebco reels.

He can practice before he participates, too.

It is a lot of fun and the kids enjoy it as much as the parents.

Bring a camera and take pictures.

If a Father shows up with his 7 year old son to Gander Mountain at 11:15 AM for the casting contest and nobody is there.....Did the contest ever happen????  I guess it was cancelled due to wind.

They were there.

I have no ide where they were when you came by.

I had to set up for the LSU Turkey Fry - Alabama game view-in and then take my wife home so I missed the casting kids event.

So sorry no one was there. I will ask them where they were.

We got there at 11:15 AM and saw nothing in the parking lot and went inside. We walked all around the store and didn't see any casting area. Then we asked a store employee about it and pointed out the event on the board at the front of the building. It said the event was outside in the parking lot from 10AM to 2 PM. We went outside and walked from one side of the parking lot to the other. We saw gun safes being unloaded and a Police SUV with a german shepard in the back but no casting contest. It was really windy and figured that they cancelled the even based on wind.
