So about those deep water big bass....

Featured Replies

Well some of y'all remember my post about help with deep water tactics... I'm catchin bunches in deep water in my lake now.. but they are ALL TINY!!! Every bass I catch in that lake is tiny. My friend and I estimated there are probably hundreds and hundreds of bass 1 pound or less, a handful of 5 or less, perhaps 10 or so above 5, and maybe 1 or 2 10's on any given day... MY LAKE IS AWEFUL! I'm tired of numbers, it can be fun to catch 20 bass in an hour or so to show off to your friends sometimes, but I've been bitten by the big bass bug and it's not the same anymore. The lake is managed by the neighborhood commity and they have all the say. Should I petition for better management/stocking plans?

and just to clarify things, that bass in my avatar pic is NOT from my lake... its from a lake about 45 minutes away that I RARELY get to go to

i would bring it to their attention.

yeah... we need to either start selectively harvesting fish or stock it with more bait like shad or something... there is barely any bait at all right now

So you are claiming to get 1 or 2 10's a day and that is aweful? :-?

Fourbizz i think he is talking about that there are 1 or 2 ten pounders in his lake(not him catching them)  but it is confusing the way he puts it. I could be wrong there, i have never done well in any english class  :-/.

Hey bass assasin trying throwing a 7in. senko t-rigged for better quality ;)

yeah sorry that was worded wierd guys.. I meant that there is probably only 1 or 2 tens IN THE LAKE... or maybe none at all now... I haven't caught/seen one in over 3 years.  I've been fishing this lake for a LONG time... I've tried everything from T-rigged 10 inch worms to topwater snakes to deep diving crankbaits.  I'm almost convinced the quality insn't there.  I wish I could take y'all fishin there so you know what I mean.  On a good lake the average size will be much bigger, but in my lake you catch the same tiny size (1 lb. and under) EVERYWHERE and ALL THE TIME

we are having similar issues at Mauch Chunk in PA. we are trying to find out some research to back up appelaing to the fish and boat guys for a slot instead of a 10 inch minimum. Trouble is we are all very unknowledable about this and are going on stuff read from others. This is gonna take some doing 1 Keep us posted on how you guys do and if any slot information is available.

Well I read up on pondboos forum and I think the bass in my lake are stunted.  I know what the deal is now, has anyone dealt with stunted bass before???

I am a little late but,

You could always fish the other lake more often

Do you eat bass if so start taking some home

You as an angler could only do some much physically to the lake though if you contact you local game and fish authority they might be able to help "fix" the issue...

If they do not want to help get a petition going...

I would like to add, some lakes are stocked that way on purpose and people do not complain because, "its a great place to bring the family and have fun catching fish."

Never saw your last post, but, have you tried throwing large swimbaits?  As in 6" or bigger?
