I don't remember ever being this jacked up to go fishing. I have wore a grove from the couch to the computer to my boat pacing the last couple weeks. All my gear is reorganized, cleaned, lubed, fresh spooled, restocked and ready to go. I built more bucktails and spinners than I have built any winter before. Which has posed another problem...While I wait for the 2 feet of ice to melt off and the season to open I have replaced my need to wet a line with the need to buy anything fishing related I can get my hands on. Five more weeks of this and I won't be able to afford to go fishing. :-/

Last year it was very action orientated. I fished it from my boat once and my kayak a couple times. I usually drop in north of Amery and work my way down its alot of fun in the yak.

I haven't heard someone mention the Apple River for years.  In college, we would do the whole drunken tube trip thing on the Apple.  I think I dumped as much beer on my head as I drank.  ;D

Our lakes here in Colorado are now mostly ice free, but the water is still quite cold and the bass not all that hungry. I am going to hit some local ponds next week though because the water in there is nearing 50 degrees.

was it a bad winter for you in wisconson? how long does it generally take for the ice to come off of your lakes?  I know your pretty far north but i'm not familiar with the climate of the area

KS is a mess this year. Just when we think it's warming up it rains and drops to 40-50 degrees.  :

No, not really a bad winter, it's just been hanging on. Usually by now we have to use planks to get out to the ice and fish, it's no where near that yet. 24" of ice last weekend yet. Still lots of snow on the ground and high 30's to low 40's for temps.

It's just felt way too long this year too.

i heard wisconsin got record snowfalls and such. Now all of the rivers down here that start in wisconsin are flooding like crazy because of the snow.

I felt the same way just tough it out bud. ;D

I share your pain and your remedy.  The bait monkey has been very hungry this winter, especially after stumbling onto this and another site.  Besides the problem of waiting for Spring, I now have the problem of how am i ever going to get all this stuff into my tackle box/bags?

It bad!! IM in Minnesota, not WI, but there they same. Were farther North but its bacically the same. Weve still got 1 foot to 2 feet on the lakes. Estimated ice out is April 7th but i dought that. The pond near me wont even make that. Thats only 4 days away. It aint going to happen. >

That's true for the southern part of the state. Northern parts of the state didn't do nearly as well for snowfall this year.

I agree, it's been a loooooong winter. It started early and seems to be hanging on late. I'm chomping at the bit to get fishing up here.

well even since i posted that last one about the rivers going up, the river in my town is up 1-2ft. !!!!!!

Wish they were flowing the other way. Going to be low waters here again if we don't get piles of rain.

So is IN. Not a single warm day in March, plenty of rain and the water is warming at a snails pace. Somebody make it stop!
