Presence of baitfish/where are the bass?

Featured Replies

For example, I see a lot of baby bass and bluegills on docks.  Does that mean there are no big bass under the docks?

I mean, I can't really imagine the little fish feeling safe under there if theres a 3lber just roaming around with them.

That happens a lot

I would suggest fishing about you 20 yards from/to the baby bass/bluegills.

A lot of times bass wil leave there young to chase out predators or even find food for there self...

Also depending on the size of the fish they may be on there own now.

Take your pick:

First breakline, grassline, or hump, point, or depression

Heaviest cover in the vicinity

Yeah at my house we always have ALOT of little panfish underneath our dock, and the nearest weedbed to the dock always produces the most bass for me.

The baitfish will bring in the big bass. I have always have luck fishing grasslines and dropoffs where the baitfish are present. Small baitfish are not very smart that is why the larger bass prey on them, They still do not know what to do when they are  confronted by a large bass therefore giving the bass an easy meal.

JMPO but I think I'm sort of right. ;)
