"deep" water fishing

Featured Replies

I fish almost exclusively shallow waters, mainly because I don't have the confidence, or knowledge in fishing deeper water.  I was hoping you guys could talk a bit about different presentations in deep water, and how to work them.

What is it you look for in underwater structure's?  The only thing I look for when fishing deeper are humps, and steep drops.

Any other input on best practices for fishing deeper would be of great help, thanks guys!

Im in the same boat as you.

Structure to look for is creek channels, dropoffs, humps, points, holes, and other depressions.

If you come across standing timber, brush piles, boulders and rockpiles, weed lines and other cover, they can also hold deep bass.

A combination of both is the best.

The main deep water techniques are deep crankbaits, carolina rigs, jigs, dropshotting, big spinnerbaits, and spoons.
