Last year I caught a few stripers in new england and a nice Bass around 20" from

the lake behind my house. Looking forward to the spring.

How big do Largemouth Bass generally get? what is a good bait? I caught this one on a medium shiner.

Spend some time in the BassResource.com Library, "Fishing Articles"

and "Tacklebox" at the top of the page. A little reading will provide

you with a better foundation for asking questions and becoming a

better fisherman.

Welcome to THE list! Bass size depends on the area and the part of the country you are in and it varies greatly. There is a discussion going on now about where folks believe the next world record will come from. You might find it interesting.

The world record is 22.25 pounds, so if you catch one bigger than that you're doing good.

A better measuring stick for a large bass would be to look up your state's record, then if you catch a bass that's half that weight, you've got a real trophy. In Illinois the record is 13 pounds, that makes a 6.5 pound bass a great fish for Illinois.
