Charlie Ingram's Show

Recommended Posts

Does anyone highly dislike Charlie Ingram's Fishing University show??  I'm not saying anything about Mr. Igram personally, but his show is very DULL and I seldom get anything new out of it.  He seems to do shows solely for the purpose of promoting some product.  And....he doesn't appear to be the most technically sound fisherman either!

Just wondering what you guys thought?  Maybe I'm missing something.

I'm turned off to most shows.

Catch a fish, have a commercial.

I've timed it on several different occasions.  Here's a rought breakdown.

Commercials, 2 - 3 minutes.

Show, 2 - 3 minutes.

In a half hour show, there are five commercial breaks.  The intro, a commercial.  The last couple of minutes are promos for either other shows, or the evening schedule.

Less than half of the thirty minutes is the actual show.

That's for WFN.  Don't know about the other networks, but suspect they are the same.

My nomination for worst show, Gillz and Finz.  It seems to be as much about the club scene as it is fishing.

I like The Bass Pros, A Day on The Lake, and Zona's show.

If you get Classic Patterns it's pretty good. City Limits with Ike is O.K. because you get to see Ike go Ike. Also they did a show in my backyard- Chicago.

I agree, when they discuss the shape of the crotch of his jeans, it's a bit much.

I don't watch Hank Parker either since it became his home movie show.

I really enjoy "A Day On The Lake" You can learn something from it. Lindner's show is good, but not as good as when he first hit the air waves with the diagrams, little lake X, and stuff. It was like going to class.

I wish there was more stuff like that.

catch a fish, sell the lure...

catch a fish, sell the rod...

catch a fish, sell the reel...

catch a fish, sell charlie's crotch...

and so it goes.

will say that ike's show was one of the few i've seen that did not push product.

a day on the lake is good, as well.

I'm not a Charlie Ingram fan from way back. Won't even stop the remote if I see his show on. Same goes for Babe Winkleman.

I like Hook n Look, In Fisherman, City Limits, Scott Martin Challenge and Day on the Lake, plus the FLW and BASS tournament coverage.

The absolute worse is Babe. He seems like a truley nice guy but, the cooking segment at the end with his wife is often enough to make me puke in my mouth!

I can't stand Charlie Ingram and his show! While I do enjoy Babes show for the most part and I actually like the cooking segment. I'm not a HUGE fish fan for eating but my niece and nephew LOVE FISH! My niece's favorite food is probably sushi. My dad caught a couple bluegill and a bass with my niece and nephew last summer on one of our camping trips. They then cleaned the fish (fillet style) and threw it on  the camp site grill. We had made steak and hot dogs and the only thing they wanted to eat was more fish. They weren't even breaded nor had any other flavor added. So I like to see the different cooking segments and think about making a dish for my niece and nephew.

My favorite fishing show is "Hook n' Look". Kim Stricker's underwater videos are incredible, and very educational.

Other shows I like are:

Bass Pros.

Day on the Lake.

Worlds Greatest Fisherman.

Lindner's Angling Edge.

FLW

Bass Master's Elite Series coverage.

I don't care for the commercials either, but without them the shows wouldn't exist. Plus my wife works in advertising, so maybe I'm a little more tolerant to them.

Get a DVR so you can fast forward through the commercials.  I can watch a fishing show in 15 minutes :P  With shows like The Bass Pros I can watch it in 5 minutes if I'm only interested in one of the segments  ;D

I made the mistake of watching one of Mr. Ingram's shows. I learned about chatterbaits, All-Star custom rods, and Diamond Gusset jeans. I've never watched another episode and do not plan to.

And he always tries to get the other person in the boat to pick up the fish he caught because he's to big to bend over.

How about Bass Edge? I've been watching that quite abit lately and it seems pretty informative to me.

I've never liked Ingram's show. It just seems like a long, boring infomercial to me. My favorites are Hook & Look, A Day on the Lake, Scott Martin Challenge, and WGFS.

Ingram spent a lot of time on the show last week touting those fishing jeans.  I will admit that it got me to look at the manufacturer's web site.  The fishing jeans are not even available yet and the jeans that are available cost more than three pairs of the ones I wear.

I'm probably as fat as he is and I make sure I bend over and get my own fish.

I can't afford those fancy jeans so mine split.  It's nice and cool on a hot day and if anyone is crowding me they clear out after the show. :o

New member here.  Charlie seems like a good guy, but the show does seem like an infomercial for all the products - don't forget the gusset jeans!  I really find Classic Patterns and Bass Edge to be pretty informative and have them set for recording. :)

On the one I saw today, Charlie and his guest just rambled on and on about how cool this boat was and how long his guest worked on making it.

As far as the fishing, they were just chuckin rattletrap type baits at the bank the entire show.  No real knowledge or insight at all, no mention of anything really other than the boat.

Thats the show I saw tonight, they never mentioned why they were fishing the way they were. He just talked about his boat sponser the whole time. >:(

Not watching that show anymore.

I think we all got stuck watching it this weekend because ESPN2 had tennis on.  If he said "aruku" one more time I was going to throw a shoe through the TV
