I'm pretty sure there's no closed season for bass as long as you have a valid fishing license, and your'e not on restricted waters (private property), so fish away, and have fun!

correct me if im wrong, but im 14, so i dont need a license- yet. is it not that you dont need a license to fish unless your 18+?

Id Fish it unless it says " NO FISHING " . Just be polite to anyone who may stop you.

I googled your Ontario fishing regs, and it says if your under 18, you don't need a license but need to carry your birth certificate for proof.  Says your bass season opens the 4th Saturday in June for your zone (17).  Then I googled private pond fishing in Ontaio, and according to what I read, none of this applies on private water.

Happy fishing!

Bass Season?!?!?

Is there really such a thing?

Why?

I am almost hyperventilating thinking about that.......a whole stretch of time that I could not fish no matter the weather......pull the plug, it aint worth it....lol.

Cyas,

Dude, many of us, in northern states, have a bass season. It's a sad fact. I believe it's almost always in place to maintain the population by protecting spawning fish. The Bass opener in MN isn't until May 23.

Well, it makes sense I guess, from a conservation minded point of view but it still does nothing for the heartattack I suffered thinking about having to endure a time of absolutely no fishing no matter the weather....lol.

you think waiting for may 23 is bad, i wait until the last weekend of june, and the season ends in late november :(

Thankfully NY only closes during one month of the year for the spawn, as long you practice catch and release.  As for keeping fish, that's only about half the year, but for c&r which I do anyway, its pretty much an open season.  Finally, NY is doing something right...

bass season starts last wkend of june....

cant you say those jigs and spinnerbaits are for catfish?

can you fish if you are releasing everything?
