A local pond I like to fish has recently seen the introduction of about 3 koi fish going about 3-7 pounds. Just wondering if I should leave them there or dispatch them? I just don't want them to compete with the bass and ruin the fishery. I plan on getting rid of any babies they have, but is 3 or 4 okay?

Down here the most common bass forage are bluegill/tilapia/carp, some places have bass/bluegill/carp, others have bass/bluegill/tilapia/carp, others have bass/carp ( and have had it for many years )

In places where there 's only bass/carp the bass are as healthy and fat as they are where there are other fish species as forage, the bass population is as numerous as it is with other fish species however, where there 's bass/carp the carp population has few small and intermediate animals, most of the carp are torpedo size ( huge ), so bass being fat and few small and intermediate size carp means bass are eating the smaller carp leaving only the fish they can 't eat, the huge carp. Koi are nothing but fancy carp if they multiply then ----> bass food.

That's what I thought about just a few minutes ago. If the carp have babies then the bass will have something to eat. I was just worried since the bass just spawned maybe the carp would eat the eggs or something. Apparently from what little research I've done that shouldn't be a problem. Plus, it seems the bass have already hatched since I saw some swarms of little fish when I was there today. Thanks Raul.

Some of the best bass lakes I have fished have tons of smaller Koi in them. There are even Koi pattern swimbaits.
