Watching boats jump that thing's wake was quite the entertainment.

I jumped the wake of a boat like that in the delta in my buddy's 375 Ranger, swear, we got like 5 ft of air, i thought the thing was gonna break in half when we landed.

When I was a teenager in Ft.Lauderdale Florida, my buddy and I each had 8' hydraplanes powered by 35 hp outboards, and we used to go wake jumping  the big yachts in the intra-coastal waterway. Many times we'd get 3 to 4' of air. Crazy kids!!!     Happy fishing.

Some of those big motor yachts going 35 MPH could almost launch a boat onto the intracoastal canal shore at high tide. Those fat cats will not back off the gas one bit.

When I encounter huge waves (the predictable rolling type, from a much larger boat) I usually don't slow for them in my 14ft aluminum. However, I will turn my boat as much as 90 degrees, to hit them at a really slight / gradual angle, to prevent any hard slamming on my hull. Usually works when I get it right.... but once in while I slam a little harder than expected, and / or, end up with some water in the boat.

Peace,

Fish

Hit a wake on Lake Norman from a ferry in the Junior World Championships for BASS and just about blew up one of the first Verado's. Came out, heard the prop buzzing, and beyond redlined it. The worst is when you come out of your seat and things fly underneith you when you come back down... :-X ;D

Those are pretty common up ther Burley. Normally see at least 2-3 on any given day on KY lake. Real fun with a jetski  :D

Our lakes are nothing alike, our lakes are nowhere deep enough for that.

Do NOT get anywhere behind one of these BIG barges, the undertow will toss a boat under before you know it....especiall if it is alluminum.

Just be careful and yes the rollers behind those boats are kinda tough.

Be careful!!
