What is the best line conditioner and do you use them?

Featured Replies

I am finding this topic to be extremely informative! I just spooled #8 Seagar invizx on one of my spinning set ups last night, which was a first considering I am primarily a braid w/ flouro leader guy. After taking a few practice casts in the yard I seem to be getting small line twists despite spooling the line properly, from the what I have read here it seems that the line conditioner will help resolve this...or am I wrong? I was thinking of going out in the yard and stripping the line down the the backing then reeling it back up through a soaked cloth or can I just apply the conditioner directly to the line on the spool?

Last but not least does Dicks carry the KVD conditioner? Thanks for the help!

I am a big fan of InvisX so this is not a negative comment, but I would not use InvisX on spinning personnally.  I'd go with RoadWarrior's favorite Yozuri Hybrid Ultrasoft on Spinning.  Line conditioner aside I think you'd see more benefits on spinning with the Yozuri.

I have the ultra soft and like the product. I also have had great experiences with the P-line CX, that to me is the best out of the 3.  I used the invizx because I had just enough left to spool one reel and figured I would use it during the early season.

KVD Line & Lure Conditioner bonds with the line. Once dried, it does

not wash off. Copolymer line is significantly effected by this product,

memory is virtually eliminated. That doesn't mean there is no coiling

from storage on the spool, but most of this goes away after a few casts.

The other notable feature is reducing backlash and making them

easier to pick out. Increased casting is another claim, but I really

haven't noticed any significant improvement.

I don't use KVD or any other product on my line, and most coiling still goes away after a few casts.

I guess I am the oddball here, I have been using Reel Magic for years and never been dissatisfied with it. But you guys might be talking me in to KVD

KVD Line & Lure Conditioner is the greatest !!!!!! It has many other uses too.

not to say you are wrong but i used KVD as i lined new line on my spin rods and yes the coiling is still there and it did not go away after a few casts. i fished for a few hours with the same rods and the line actually feels stiffer than fresh out of the spool. just something i have noticed and the line i use is a copolymer. i will try different ways with KVD but over all i am not impressed so far. this could change. btw the coils never relaxed.

OK, now spray your line on the spools with the KVD and let it dry. And then you will see a big change for the better! :)
