summer heat.

Ok what fishing spots should I look for in the summer. Im fairly new to bass fishing and not very good at fishing deep water so can you still find fish shallow in the summer?

being that i do fish a local park pond that is 50 acres from my float tube i was able to determine there is nothing deeper that 6 ft. in saying this i will most definatly tell you that yes bass are still shallow in the summer i also truely believe alot of the bigger bass stay shallow. you need to fish super tight to cover and look for areas with shade. i like to start big then get small I.E. 1/2 black/blue jig, then say a tube then say a shakey head. also dont forget to fish early and late when there is minimal sunlight.

My personal experience in local lakes is that the shallows are pretty much empty! With the exception of a straggling dink or two. The big girls are in deeper, cooler waters. The lakes i fish are only 9ft at there deepest point.

i agree. you have to fish super tight to cover to get the big ones most of the time. if there is a stream or creek flowing into the pond lake etc then they relate to cover around it. the little ones usually roam around the pond but the big ones usually relate to cover. i would try a jig and jiggle it  around the cover to make them strike.

For every bass you can shallow there are 5 more behind you in deeper water ;)

Even when I'm fishing the shoreline I'm looking for structure and not just aimlessly wondering down the shoreline. Again remember there must be a visible path of breaks and break lines on structure from deep water all the way to the bank, this is where the bulk of food is available to game fish.
