When to keep

Featured Replies

So when do you keep your bass to mount it i heard the best weights for a largemouth is 7 1/2 and up

I wouldn't keep it at all....... measure the length and girth take a couple quality pictures and get a replica.

I would think it's probably be better to take a lot of pictures and have a replica made than to keep it for mounting.

EDIT: I'm slow.  :)

I'd only keep a record fish.

If I wanted a mount I'd get a replica.

Quality replica mounts look better and last longer. And you get to release the fish to catch again when she's bigger.

I guess it depends on where your from and how big your fish get. Here in Alabama, a 6 lber would qualify for being mounted by most guys.

I personally wouldn't do this (mount), I would have a replica made. But then again everyone is different, & the choice is yours. If I were going to do this it would definitely have to be over 10lbs.

Any thing over 30 lbs. should be mounted.

Exactly.   8-)

Personally, I like the look of replica's better but that's only second place to the fact that I would NEVER remove such high quality genetics from my home lake.

For me personally, I don't think I would ever pull a bass from the water to mount it.  As LBH stated, if you leave that fish there her genes will be passed on to the next generation and you'll have more large bass in the future.  If I nailed a 10 lb plus fish I would probably get a replica mount.  However, as I agreed with a post earlier, it is ultimately your decision.   ;)
