How does boat traffic affect the bass?  If someone runs through a spot you want to fish, how long does it take to settle down and is that affected by the depth?  Or do they just scatter and move on?

I 'm positive that if someone runs bove a spot you want to fish the fish don 't care long enough for it to matter. I troll a lot when moving form one spot to the other and the fish bite right after I passed upon them, don 't think it 's more than 20 seconds between the boat passing above them and the bait they bite passing at their noses behind the boat.

Depends if it is constant or intermittent. If they traffic is always heavy it may not affect them. If you are off in a secluded spot that someone runs over it will probably scatter them for a while.

Case in point refer to Jay Yealas winning the Classic several years ago in Alabama. Boat cut right in front of him and he caught a 6 pounder before the wakes diminished.

Most critters whether they swim, walk, or fly become accustomed to their surroundings.  A bass living on a lake with high boat traffic isn't going to be much more affected than the deer that live right on the runways at the Detroit airport.

I was fishing a tournament 2 weeks ago, when a jetski came between my boat and the shore. I was so mad I wanted to chase him and throw him off the jetski and run that thing right up the bank. I didn't of course and went on fishing all of a sudden I had a fish on.    After the tourney was over I had talked to one of the guys there and he said When a boat or jetski does that it will stir up the baitfish and get them to scatter and start a short feeding frenzy.

Absolutely true! If this were not the case Bass on SML would never bite. They get beat to death 250 days a year.

boat wakes(And wind) tend to stir up the food chain and that will increase activity a lot of times. I've fished areas that depended on wave action to get bit.
