Do your crankbaits spin as they float?

Featured Replies

Hey boys,

i was using a series 3 sexy shad crankbait which i did catch my first bass of the season on. i also caught my first fish on a bait caster AND a crankbait so i was pumped. but after a while when i would pause the crankbait on slack line the line would often get tangled on the front hook. so i pulled the crank in and watched what it did on slack line. when i would give it slack line it would would start to rise from whatever depth  as well as starting to spin like a tornado(best way to describe it) I am thinking maybe  i need to tune it? or is it common to have a crankbait spin on you with slack line > :-?

thanks,

Trav

Did it only happen when the line was tangled with the hooks? If so it is normal.

The lures only spin when they are foul hooked.

Several crankbaits will do kind of like a 180 when you pause them while they are rising. While it is normal on these crankbaits I prefer to throw one that won't do that when using a crank and pause method of retrieve. At least one that won't turn so far as to fowl the hooks up.
