Stay at home.

can't. cabin fever will destroy me

I just tossed in a senko/strike king 5" worm and let the current take it for a while, reel it in and do it again.... caught a nice 16" 2.5lb little pig 2 weeks ago doing this. He/she took it on the 5th cast. I had tried other spots in the same area but not that specific bend...

Try to keep it close to the edge of calmer water because they like to dark out into the heavier current to get the food then head back in the slow current.

There was enough reeds and stuff that I had to do mine texas rigged but with little to no vegetation wacky rig should work well too. Repetition is the key, just keep tossing back tot he same spot over and over letting it pass the same area over and over until they take it. Usually by cast 10 or 15 I either change how it is rigged or try other bends and weed edges.

This has landed me several in the small creek not too far from my house, 10-20 ft wide and maybe 4 feet at the deepest.

edit: and like usual, use colors similar to other bait/baitfish found in the same area

wacky rigged Senko is good idea. I seem to have good luck in small rivers in winter slow rolling a white spinnerbait with a colorado blade. Minnows on a slip float would be something to try. A simple grub on a jig head also works well. I have success on quite a bit of baits during winter, but whatever one i use i make sure i work it SLOW.

When it comes to stream fishing and creek fishing, I have very good luck tossing a small black/blue craw papi anywhere there is cover. Try using the smallest weight you can.

Stream fishing....New Jersey....in February...

Doubt you'll catch much on a Senko, let alone bass.

Take a light power spinning rig, a bobber, some split shot, and a tiny jig, trout dough, or fly and drift the seams for trout.  Rigging tips here:

You'll probably run into a few of these:

The same method gets us these up here:

Great pics JFrancho.

Francho has the right idea, At this point in the year I wouldn't even consider fishing for SM in a stream. I have a couple fly rods I bring out in this situation. Those trout are loving the cold water right now and are active, so enjoy some trout fishing.

;)

I think the other guys nailed it, if the water isn't frozen up there it's still probably very cold. Trout love that. Even in the milder Ozarks we usually hit the trout rivers when the water temps are that cold.

If you do go for Bass, you might catch a break and get a couple, but I know it'll be pretty slow.

absolutely, i go for trout regularly and don't use fly gear.  You can use live bait, worms are great with a very small hook.  Or you can use small spinners, mepps and panther martins are awesome.  you can pick up a few panther martins at any walmart or any store that has fishing supplies, they're cheap.

All you need is a bobber, some split shot, and a hook. I don't use fly gear at all. I get my flies from fish that broke off from fly guys. Some have more jewelry in their face than you see at a tattoo convention, LOL.

I like flyfishing that's why I do it, it's just something different. My buddy who goes with me uses a split shot and live minnow. To tell you the truth, he out fishes me every time.  ;D

No, and I don't generally discuss small trout water on the web.
