any1 flyfish for bass?

Featured Replies

For smallies I've had pretty good luck with streamers like wooly buggers, muddler minnows, mickey finns and grey ghosts.  The wooly bugger seems to be the best though. I probably get close to half of all my smallies on the wooly bugger.

#1 Smallie fly is a Clouser, without a doubt.

#1 Largemouth fly is probably a slider I tie.

You said "favorite" instead of what catches the most fish, so I'll say one of my own Bass Bugs, either Deer Hair or Foam.

Most Fish? Clouser Minnow.

are you guys using a spinning rod & reel or fly setup?

Got two new fly rod setups that I hope to use later this year for bass. Saw a young lady using a fly rod fishing for bluegills in a float tube and she caught several bass in the 2 pound range but I didn't ask her what she was throwing. I do know she was using some kind of wet fly. Sure got her a workout when those bass hit too!

Deja vu!

Deer hair bass bugs are a shear joy to fish, but those darn fly-rods are as long as the boat ::)

I shouldn't admit this, but bull frogs also have a strong affinity for hair bugs.

The following year however, I was in for a big surprise. Apparently frogs have highly acidic saliva,

and all the hair on my bugs was lying on the floor of the lure trays >:(
