Ive gone out fishing several times and cant manage a single bite. where should I be fishing right now. If it helps the lake gets to a maximum of 30 feet and the water temp right now is about 40 deggrees

at 40...i would start deep and then work my way up toward the staging areas

if it was me i;d start throwing a jerkbait i've found them to be very good in cold water..just position your boay at least a cast and a half from the shore and jerk and most importat PAUSE it thats when you;ll get bit...good luck..

Fishing deep will probably be your best bet that cold of water.  Try different retrieves to see which one the fish like best.

I would wait until the water temperatures get up a little warmer than that.  Wait until they start spawning in shallower water....  For a begginer spawning bass  are easy to catch
