What to use here?

Featured Replies

Ok, the part of the Chattahoochee I am fishing in looks somewhat like the picture with a few deeper pools and and probably one feet deeper on average. I can see groups of bass swimming around often. Here, I could catch bass and trout so my question is what lure would work best and how should I fish it? Jerkbait maybe??? Thanks

Extra Info:

Post Spawn

Water Temp is average

There is a rockier part and then a deeper, less rocky part where tubers go down.

I would start with a minnow colored floating rapala or some type of craw imitation for the bass.  Rooster tail is right on if you want a chance at both species.

I'd have to agree with Bait. I've fished in the hooch many times in areas like this, and the roostertail did me wonders!

A spinner bait would probably work well because of the way you fish it. There's a possibility those other baits could get stuck on those rocks on the shallow water.

Yum craw tube. Bounce on bottom with the current. Use enough weight to feel bottom.

Tubes, soft and hard jerkbaits, small buzzbaits and spinnerbaits.

Alright, thanks for all the advice i'll be heading out today with some rooster tails, tubes, craws, and jerks.

Your duplicate thread was removed.

If you are just looking for lure suggestions,

try a Rage Tail Baby Lobster, T-rigged with

a 1/8 oz bullet weight. Another suggestion

is the Swarming Hornet with a LFT Live Magic

Shad trailer.

The Baby Craw should be fished slow with

intermittent pauses. The Hornet is fished

by reeling, not raising your rod. The bottom

blade lifts the bait. After 5 quick turns, allow

the lure to fall on slack line.

8-)

Buzz bait, finesse jig, and a tube. Also a wacky rigged stick bait would work well

Small white grub on 4 pound fluoro on a spinning rig.  :)
