Crawfish

Featured Replies

Just caught a TON of crawfish in a creek behind my school, put them in my aquarium, but as yall can guess I'm not keeping em for show. Opinions on how to fish them?

Get a big pot and place on stove.

Add water, seafood seasoning, onions and corn on the cobb.

Bring to boil.

Put crawfish in pot and boil for 5 minutes.

Drain water, and put crawfish, onion and corn on big tray.

Enjoy.

Forget fishing them.

Eat them!  ;D   ;D   ;D

I like Sam's suggestion, Zatarans crab boil works great!

If your going to use them as bait, there are 2 ways to fish them. Tail hook them, avoid the vien in the middle of the tail or he wont last long. Another way is to hook em through the "beak", just be careful not to stick their brain. Use very little weight, preferablly none.

Haha thats definitely one option. But assuming I wanted a fish fry instead of a craw boil...

Love my crawdads!!

I hook them right between the eyes with a baitholder hook. They stay alive longer and walk better than tail hooking them.

Oh I forgot, rig them so the hookpoint rides up and the gap in the hook is between the line and the bait.

yup use a med sized bait holder hook and hook them right behind the eyes underneath that hard part on top of there head. make sure you give slack line and keep your finger on the line and wait for a killer hit

I like Sam's suggestion! Just add plenty of Cajun seasonings! I wouldn't waste 'em on fishing - too many good artificials out there. Eat 'em!

my suggestion is do whatever you want with them, but keep a few for the aquarium! they're fun to watch. :)

d**n i just can't escape this can i....

but i've only seen the crawfish poo once, and it was actually weird because it comes out from under the tail fin. i figured it would come out of the body. i should stop now.

they get out of the water and go not far up the bank and hibernate underground to the best of my knowledge.
