Depression setting in

Featured Replies

Here in Northern California as the season ends the next is beginning. Its my off season now, but it just means Im getting ready for the new season is beginning. Usually temps dont drop below 48deg water temp. Winter is a great time to fish is California as the lakes are usually free of the shi and pleasure boaters.

I think our high this morning was 25. Years ago I use to let winter get me down, but now I pace myself and use the down-time to inventory tackle and order replacements. I'll also spend some cold evenings going over lake maps and planning trips. I've already planned a couple of four day kayaking treks, one into an area where no motor craft are allowed and I'm really getting stoked for that one. I'll also spend a lot of time on the forums, especially this one, learning new things. As far as information goes, this forum is tops by far. Actually, I'm starting to enjoy winter already. :D

I cleaned up my canoe and other "on-the-water" equipment and stored it for the winter last week so no more boating for me this year. However, water temps are still around 50 here on the Cumberland plateau in Tennessee so I'm still catching some bass from the bank. I fish nearly every day so depression won't set in until I get skunked 4 or 5 days in a row. I was skunked yesterday, but got two bass today !
