Christmas list-words of advice

Featured Replies

its become all about gift cards in my family. i told them we should each go out and buy something nice for ourselves, then bring it to chrismas gatherings and show it off.

My buddy's family does that. They each give eachother money to spend on themselves a month before christmas, they buy what they want, give it to the person who paid for it, the person wraps it and puts it under the tree for christmas. I'm always jealous when he comes back from shopping on black friday with his christmas gifts.

OK, dumb question: Why bother with all the gyrations, and just buy yourself what you want?

OH! I see what you mean. Hmmm...maybe it's just his mom who did that...i dunno. All i know is he used to get money to buy his own gift from that person.

Sounds thoughtless to me.  Take the money you spend on yourself, and use it to buy presents for the children of the less fortunate.  Your church should be able to provide names of a worthy recipient.

Actually, their family gives a lot to the less fortunate. Very avid church goers and there's an area of their kitchen where they've posted a picture of every child they've sponsored over the years. There's at least 20. His parents even took in the children of family members who weren't doing too well. 5 kids and 3 adults in their small 2 bedroom, 1 story house. My buddy is afraid his parents don't have enough money to retire. Let's not make generalizations now.  ;)

I'm a big fan of the "Wish List" Feature on Amazon. You can add anything you want from BassPro, Cabelas, Gander, whatever. You share the list w/ your wife, sister, mom, whoever and all they do is click and purchase.

When they tell you you're hard to buy for, the wish list makes it very easy.

Hope you all got what you were looking for. ;D

I just say Lucky Craft and will take what I get. I can use it or return it for a different one if I have the one I get. It is about the right amount for the kids to spend and I smile a-lot. They then get to see the photos of the green fat girls I caught on the Christmas present they got me, it has worked great so far.

P.S. OK I will confess -- I tear out the Lucky Craft page from the catalog, circle the ones I want, and leave it by the toilet for the wife to see while she is -- ummmmm---reading. It works -- try it.
