looking for a relly good book on bass that would explain what bass should be doing throught the year as it relates to water surface temp. any ideas?

You're asking about seasonal patterns.  There is a ton of good information out there about seasonal patterns.  There is quite a bit about seasonal patterns in the articles section of this site.

Go to the In-fisherman magazine site and research seasonal patterns.  The original owners of In-fisherman magazine - Al Lindner and his brothers, created a whole fishing system primarily based on regional and seasonal patterns.   Fish + Location + Presentation = Success.

That's enough reading to get you started, enough for a year or so.  Google Bass Fishing Institute - Indiana University and see if you can find one of their old textbooks.

they published 10 "Study Reports" per year, which they called a "Segment".

It is not recreational reading (e.g. "This happened to me"), it is hardcore knowledge.

If you get your hands on the first Segment (10 Study Reports), you'll have a mountain of angling information.

The best book I have ever read on what your looking for is In-Fisherman's Largemouth Bass book. I re-read this book every winter to help with my mental illness called cabin fever. LOL

In Pursuit Of Giant Bass and Knowing Bass are both must reads...

Try the book  "Big Bass Zone" by Siemantel.  Has a lot of good information and techniques in it.

In 1998, Al and Ron Lindner sold In-Fisherman to Primedia.

Although Ron retired in 1998, Al is still affiliated with "Lindners Angling Edge".

Al said that his 40 years in the business went by in a blink (I hear that)

Even the biggest and best house still needs a good foundation, and the Lindner brothers are responsible for laying the best groundwork for building a fisherman's trophy room.

I have a copy of Al Lindner's original book, "Big Book On Fishing". I believe it was publised (soft cover) back in 1970. He even designed an off-set worm hook, which I still have some of. Incredible fisherman. Along with his friend, Bill Binkleman, they were "the" pioneers of our fishing industry.
