Skirted jig vs. Sweet Beaver

Featured Replies

When do you throw a jig? When do you use a beaver style creat. bait?

Even one of the best jig flippers of all time,Tommy Biffle is winning with the beaver.

When ever I feel like it ;)

LOL , ditto

I pretty much throw them interchangeably around wood, pilings, and in the grass. If the bass wiill eat a jig, they will probably eat a beaver. Both have a large profile, but if the fish want something a little more subtle, I throw what is shown below. It's a beaver body, but has a smaller profile with the claws rather then the paddle tail. It displaces less water, but still catches big fish.

I like a beaver as a trailer on my jigs.

I was just about to post the same question!!!  I think it is just personal preference.

I'm partial to a jig and a big trailer of some sort, but I'm not stupid enough to keep throwing it if I'm not getting bit, which is usually when I'll switch over to a beaver or a chigger craw

I like the Beaver weightless. I just really loosen my brakes and flip it anywhere I would a jig. I usually go with it after I know an area has seen a lot of jigs during a tournament.
