today i went to go fish at a pond filled with fish, i knew there were fish because i saw plenty of bass on the shore good sizes also..  i was wondering what color and what kind of lure should i use for this type of pond fishing?? i tried a frog but had no luck i saw the fish staring at the frog but just ended up swimming away from it..  any help will be nice..

I fish heavily stained water I like green pumpkin with black flakes. That's by far the most productive color I've tried in heavily stained waters.

For a soft plastic lure, I would want something with some good action. I would try a bigger twist tail worm, or a Rage Tail bait, like the Space Monkey. The Space Monkey has a been a big producer for me this year.

Ah yes, the dreaded greenpumpkin with black flake.

Start with the 4-inchers and work up to the 5-inchers.

Try wacky and Texas rig.

May I also suggest a weightless pink or white trick worm?

A Bandit 200 blue back and chart. body may also produce as they can see the chartruese.

If water is heavily stained, follow Micro's suggestions and have lure make a racquet in the water.

Worms- weedless weightless trick worms and finesse

cranks- Daiwa peanut, black with silver.

My pond is exactly like that, I run the crank along the bank, they may not hit it on the first try, but keep running it, they will hit it.

All great suggestions. Remember one thing though. If you can see the fish, they ARE aware of you. And consequently, will not normally bite!

That being said, I'd go with the Senko route and focus on your approach. Stealth, quiet, calm and cast. You'll get bit!  

I don't know about fish, but at one particular dirty pond, I was fishing with a camouflage 5" Storm Rattle Tube.  I was hopping over some matted grass, and a snake bit it.  About made my crap myself.

i occasionally fish a pond similar to that in my area......it usually has a thick green film on the top of the water too that stains my line all up.....

anyway...

my best producing bait for this spot is a pop-r, hands down.

I like a black 4" Brush Hog with blue tail/appendages in dirty water!

I agree, Senko.......black or green pumpkin/watermelon.
