Featured Replies

I live near a stream that i fish often and it's loaded with smallmouths. last year i did really well.. I went to this stream the other day and couldn't even get a bite. up here in upstate N.Y.. the weather can be somewhat unpredicatable. i tried jigs on the bottom senkos rigged every way possible tubes and inline spinners. my question is what could i have done to have caught a few bass..   Thankyou

Minnows, live shiners.

Another idea might be a jerkbait. Even when they're not in the feeding mode, bass are by nature defensive and you might solicite a reaction strike.

i would say down size if you catch them on a normal day with regular senko's on days like that switch to senko thins and the wee rebel craws also if you have not tried those senko thins on  creak smallies try it you will be greatly rewarded trust me

I went out to my favorite smallmouth creek yesterday and and caught 2 fatty rock bass on the kreature bait. I then switched to a 4 inch black senko and caught 3 smallies.  Which was kind of interesting, still experimenting with that kreature bait. Should be a good creek bait. I did throw a jerk bait a few times. It just didn't feel right so I went back to plastics.

The weather in Southern Ohio is still on the colder side, but the fish are slowly becoming more active. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Some days they just don't bite. You'll get'em next time.
