When To Use What Type Of Jig Trailer?

Featured Replies

When do you guys go to a non-action type trailer like a Zoom Salty Pro Trailer which has little twirling action?

When do you go to a trailer like a Rage Tail chunk which has a lot of action?

Does it even matter what trailer you use?

I've used both the *** chunk and the 4" Beaver Craw.

Colors:  Jigs, black with blue flash.  Trailers, watermelon red.

Both work fine, but I prefer the Beaver Craw.  It's just an esthetic thing to my eye.  The bass probably don't have a preference.

It seems to me that a trailer on any lure seems to be more effective if it's a contrasting color to the lure.

In the event that the fish is attracted to a certain color, you increase the odds in your favor by offering them two or more colors.

Really, that is the opposite of what I always heard and have been told.  I was always told to match the color of the trailer to the jig.  Interesting food for thought though.

Later, :D
