Does anyone have info on smallies in the Umatilla, Or. area ?

The Columbia is an awesome smallie fishery, but it's so huge and the current so strong (except in the reservoir sections) that it can intimidate you. I think a better bet would be the Yakima River in the Yakima/Prosser area. Great smallie fishing and a small boat is all you need. Plus it's wadeable.

during the spring fish it with tubes and grubs from the mouth about 2000 yards upriver there is a bridge for pedestrians go beyond that up by the rapids fish that section back to the pedestrian bridge. trust me fished the umatilla since i was 4 ;)

Don't forget the John Day River, it's loaded with nice smallies and isn't that far away.
