Where do they hide in the summer?

Featured Replies

Whats up new here, I fish the big Manistee river in upper Michigan. Where I fish is above a pretty big dam. They call it the Hodenpyle dam pond, but it looks like a big lake. I know the smallies go deeper in the summer but how deep? The deepest it gets up there is about 30-35 ft, with alot of 12-16 ft, and more 7-9 ft. We catch alot of walleye in about 16 ft. I catch alot of sm in the spring but I rarely catch them in the summer exept for early morning off the dock.

Welcome aboard!

Find the baitfish and the smallmouth will be at the same depth.
