Yes I need to know what you guys think this SM weighs in at. I caught it in May of this year out of our local river (Dan River) and just finally pried the pictures from my best buddys camera today!!

I'm thinking between 3 and 4 lbs and no I did not keep this fish, only had him on the stringer to live while I ran across the river to get the camera lol

2 -2 1/2 lbs. It takes something that "looks like a 5" to get to 3 lbs.

i live pretty close to the Dan in North Carolina.  I never really knew that there were any smallmouth in there.  there may not be down south were im from though.  Where do you Fish it at? im going to have to go try my luck down there soon.

Well, length doesn't mean as much as you might think.

The fat fish in my avatar was just over 7 lbs. The other

fish is my PB and was nearly 4" longer, but just weighed

another pound.

2 1/2 - 3 is what I'd guess.

Length can be decieving when considering weight. I've caught 18 inch fish that only weighed 2- 2 1/2. Then on the flip side, thi spring, I caught one that was just shy of 16' and weighed 3 1/2.

Anyway, nice chunk!

Well mostly this year (when the water was up) I waded in anglers park which is in Dan Daniel's Park. Thats the biggest smallie by far I have seen anyone ever catch in the Dan, the average most of the time is 1/2 - 1 1/2 lbs but its still fun if you can get into them.

I didnt accurately measure it but I want to say it was around 15 or 16 inches in length and it had a fat old belly on it...I really wish I would have had a friggen scale! I guess that will be my next investment.

hey guys, just so you know, ive learned that the average 20" smallmouth should be 4 lbs, and 20" largemouth 5 lbs! of course, this all gets messed up in the spring and sometimes winter but............ summer it works great!

I've seen 20" smallmouth range from 3 3/4 pounds all the way up to 6 pounds.  The 6 pounder was built like a dump truck though.
